This was such an authentic Malayali restaurant with super flavorful items! The fish fry is an absolute must order, along with the fried chicken bites. If you enjoy South Indian filter coffee, this place will not disappoint. Overall, such a great place for lunch, need to check out their dinner next!

All the dishes were layered with complex, delicious flavors. The space is inviting and casual. Not sure I loved ordering and paying directly from my phone, but I understand how the reduced waitstaff cuts costs.

This place felt like home! I walked in and the air smelled like my grandmothers in Kerala. Despite my unfortunate coconut allergy, the staff was attentive and extremely helpful around making my experience memorable and comfortable. I do hope the menu expands in future to accommodate more coconut-free options, similar to what my family in Kerala does when they know Im coming to town, haha. My favorites were the Maanga Inji, Kerala Fried Chicken bites, Kallumakkaya, Malabar Chicken Biryani, and the new Buttermilk Passionfruit ice cream. The heat/spice levels were on point and exactly what my family overseas does. I highly recommend this beautiful, warm, and authentic place to anyone. You will not be disappointed!

We came all the way from Kerala to Miami and from there on a road trip via Chicago got into THATTU to satisfy our mallu taste buds. But extremely saddened by the poor taste and making skills of the Chef here. We ordered Malabar chicken biriyani and they gave us sume over spiced jeera rice kind of rice with chicken marinated. With the craving we started eating and we felt a burning sensation. It was over spiced with nutmeg skin and Jeera. Also it was very overpriced. Once we told this to the waiter she informed the chef and he tasted it afterwards and then only realized that we were right and they removed the entire thing from that days menu which we felt very unprofessional and illegal to do, Hence proven they are not doing the pre test or checks before giving the food to the customers. We spent our valuable time there wasted. Very bad team, needs much much more improvement. The only good thing these guys did was give the refund which is not a great thing to do of doing such a bad way of treating customers and the time of them stopping by believing itd be a great time expecting their mothers cuisine

Food was ok. There was a lot of warmth and heat in the dishes and not so much what I would consider flavor. The Kerala fried chicken bites were pretty good and definitely the standout. The kappa bonda fried yucca balls were OK not a lot of flavor but the onion tamarind on top helped. Kadala curry and the chettinad pepper chicken were both decent, but again, warm spices over flavor here too. Also be aware it feels more fast casual since they don t really have a traditional wait staff. You don t really talk with a server ever. All food and drink is ordered through a QR code online and when you are done you pay the bill online and just leave the restaurant. For a place with unique cuisine for the area and is slightly more upscale, I would prefer sitting down and actually having a waiter to interact with more. But others may not mind. It s too in and out for me.

Foot was phenomenal. Everything was spiced so perfectly. Cocktails were all very good. Wasn t aware of the setup/atmosphere before hand (that s on me) but def more foodhall/family vibes (more casual) than intimate restaurant - nevertheless everything else was so good it didn t matter to us! Service was also quick, courteous and accommodating. Will certainly be back.

9.5/10!! Loved this restaurant, each dish was unique, incredibly flavorful and perfectly balanced. The atmosphere is cute and inviting, and we loved the simple QR code ordering system that streamlined service. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

The Kerala-inspired flavors at Thattu were truly remarkable and left us thoroughly impressed. While most dishes were small bites, the portions added up quickly and were surprisingly filling. We especially enjoyed the eggplant theeyal and Kerala fried chicken, both of which were outstanding appetizers. We did find the Meen Pollichathu a bit underwhelming, as the seasoning fell a bit flat and the tilapia didnt absorb as much flavor as we had hoped. Nonetheless, it was an overall fantastic dining experience with plenty of flavorful delights.

Bottom line: Flavorful, delicious, healthy food. Unexpected, new foods that were expertly prepared. This is a place to come back to. Every expectation I had was blown away with this dinner. The flavors and textures of the food were brilliant. They coursed out our order in the best way possible and really led us through a journey. No frills here, just a staff that really pays attention to what they do and do is spectacularly. I also loved being introduced to a few new foods and new preparations of others. The drinks paired really well and helped to temper the spice forward meal. Big winners were the curry, pork chop, eggplant, and fried plantains. Also, make sure to get the spicy shortbread which comes prepackaged and you can eat it over coffee the next morning. What a delight!

Love love love the ambiance, and how the menu was cleverly laid out to list the dishes from the smallest size to largest. Staff was kind and engaging, too. Really enjoyed the mushroom mezhukkupuratti. Kadala curry was also tasty, especially enjoyed the appam (crunch at the edges, spongey towards the center). Boyfriend got the pork chop (not pictured), it was a little dry but good overall; yucca cake was a memorable bite from the dish. We finished with bread pudding for dessert, which was like French toast with a twist!
